Together with with IPC we developed Arena Control – a vehicle access control system for stadium security.
Arena Control
Arena Control is web-based software for accrediting and controlling access for suppliers at large events. The software provides simple but effective control of access/entry to a cordoned-off area. Since 2019, the German Football Association (DFB) has been using Arena Control for the DFB Cup Final at Berlin's Olympic Stadium.
How it works
Suppliers receive access to Arena Control by the event organiser. They can now register deliveries using their personalised account.
When registering their deliveries, suppliers enter the driver, vehicle and freight details. After review by the organiser and law enforcement, the delivery is either approved or rejected. The supplier receives an email which, in the case of approval, also serves as an access pass with a QR code.
On the day of delivery, the driver presents their authorisation at ingress. Using Arena Control on a mobile device, the guard verifies the credentials against the system records: Is it the right vehicle? Is the driver accredited? Is access permitted for this specific gate?
Should any details differ – such as a license plate or a phone number – the guard can update the information on the fly. If issues arise, the guard can contact the designated supervisor directly through the app.
Once verified, the guard confirms the entry in Arena Control and clears the barrier.
Things tend to be hectic during the set-up of a large scale event. Sometimes lorries are simply left inside the closed-off area. Thanks to Arena Control, the guards can check who owns the vehicle and call the driver directly, notify stadium security or law enforcement, if necessary.
The exit is logged by the guard in Arena Control. This means that the software provides an overview of the people and vehicles still on the premises at any given time. Irregularities are detected immediately and are always tracked.
